Our introduction to freediving course provides the foundational knowledge and skills for safely exploring the underwater world on a single breath. This course is designed for beginners with little to no prior freediving experience. Key areas covered in our introductory course • Theory and Physiology: You'll learn about the physics and physiology of freediving, including the mammalian dive reflex, pressure equalization, and efficient breathing techniques. • Breathing and Relaxation: A core focus is on breath-hold techniques, emphasizing proper diaphragm breathing, relaxation, and mindfulness to extend your time underwater safely. • Safety and Rescue: Safety is paramount, and a significant portion of the course is dedicated to the buddy system, rescue procedures (including how to handle blackouts and loss of motor control - LMC), and essential safety protocols. The #1 rule is "never dive alone". • Equipment: You'll learn about essential freediving gear, including low-volume masks, snorkels, long fins, and weight belts. • Confined Water (Pool) Sessions: These sessions provide a controlled environment to practice breath-holding (static apnea), underwater swimming (dynamic apnea), duck dives, finning techniques, and safety drills. • Equalization: Learn the Frenzel maneuver, a crucial technique for equalizing pressure in your ears and sinuses as you descend.
